Personnel

The Donatelli Development team has hands-on experience in every aspect of the real estate industry. Each member brings to the group a special talent in his or her field of expertise. When combined, these talents cover the full scope of real estate operations including finance, development, construction and management. The team’s involvement in all aspects of real estate transactions, from land acquisition to financial structuring, provides the knowledge necessary for success in today’s sophisticated real estate market. Their success is a matter of record and has earned Donatelli Development a reputation as a leader in the Washington real estate community.


Louis T. Donatelli

Lou is Chairman Emeritus of Donatelli Development (formerly Donatelli & Klein). Mr. Donatelli started his professional career in the stock brokerage and investment banking business. His associations were with the NYSE firms of Harris, Upham & Company starting in 1956 and Hayden, Stone & Company which he joined in 1963 and was Partner during his last three years. In 1969 he formed Donatelli, Rudolph and Schoen, a DC-based stock brokerage firm and in 1973 he formed Donatelli & Klein, Inc. to invest in and develop real estate. His partner, Roger Klein, died in 1982.

Mr. Donatelli serves on the Board and received the President’s Medal from his alma mater, St. John’s College High School. He is an alumnus of Villanova University where for 9 years he served on its Board of Trustees, was a member of the Executive Committee, and received the President’s Medal. He is the Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of First Potomac Realty Investment Trust, an affiliate of Donatelli Development.

Mr. Donatelli served on the Board of Directors of The American Gas Index Fund, Inc., Fund for Tax Free Investors, Inc., The Rushmore Fund, Inc., and as a Trustee for Fund for Government Investors. Mr. Donatelli has served on the Boards of Directors of Gonzaga College High School, The United Service Organization (USO), The Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C. and the Yellow Ribbon Fund. He is a member of The Sovereign Military Order of The Knights of Malta and is affiliated with Associated Catholic Charities, which benefits needy children and families in the Washington area. In 2009 he received the Catholic Business Man of the Year Award, and in 2011 he was honored with the National Italian American Foundation Award.

Lou is a member of Columbia Country Club, Burning Tree Golf Club and the Metropolitan Club of Washington, D.C. He is a member of Jupiter Hills Country Club and Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Florida where he has a winter residence.

Mr. Donatelli is a lifelong resident of the Washington area having lived in Capitol Hill, Northwest Washington, Bethesda, and Potomac.


Christopher J. Donatelli

Christopher J. Donatelli is the President and CEO of Donatelli Development and has served in that capacity since 1998. Chris has led the development of all the company’s multifamily projects. In 2016, he founded Donatelli Management and serves as CEO. Mr. Donatelli was given the 2006 Visionary Award from the Washington DC Center for Economic Development, he received the 2009 Economic Development Award from the African-American Real Estate Professionals Foundation, and was honored with the 2014 Development Achievement Award - Private Sector by DCBIA. He is a frequent speaker at ULI, NAHB, and Bisnow conferences.

A native Washingtonian, Mr. Donatelli is a graduate of Gonzaga College High School. He earned a B.S. in Finance from Villanova University and an M.B.A. in Real Estate from American University in Washington, DC. He is currently a Member of the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, Gonzaga College High School, and is a Board Member of the DCBIA. Chris previously served on the board of Victory Housing and has been very involved with Catholic Charities. In 2011, Mr. Donatelli opened Lou’s City Bar, a sports bar named for his father, which continues to serve the Columbia Heights neighborhood. Mr. Donatelli resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife and their four children.

Mr. Donatelli has developed and serves as the Managing Member on ten transit oriented, high-rise projects in the District, including mixed-use apartments, mixed-use condominiums, low income housing tax credit apartments (LIHTC), and permanent supportive housing (PSH).


Brian A. Rogers, PE

Brian is a Vice President of Donatelli Development. He has over 35 years of development experience and is a licensed professional engineer. His responsibilities include the procurement of entitlements, and the management of land development, construction, and design of all new development.

Mr. Rogers is a graduate of the Civil Engineering School at the University of Virginia and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.


John K. Groth

John is the Marketing Director for Donatelli Development. He has worked in real estate for over 20 years, primarily in apartment and condominium marketing. His responsibilities include corporate and project marketing, branding, advertising, and event planning, as well as managing the leasing and sales teams.

Mr. Groth is from the Washington area and attended Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda. He is a graduate of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland where he received a B.S. degree in Marketing.


Andrew t. Jennings, PE

Andy is a Project Manager for Donatelli Development. He has over 20 years of development experience and is a licensed professional engineer. His responsibilities include cost and scheduling control of projects from conceptual design through Certificate of Occupancy, close out documentation and warranty periods. This involves managing the progress of the contractor and design consultants, as well as coordination of permits, utilities, and municipal agencies.

Mr. Jennings is a graduate of the Civil Engineering School at the University of Virginia and received a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho. He has been registered as a professional engineer in 10 states and has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
